Discarded/Junk Vehicles

As a courtesy, the City of Hooker would like to remind residents of the ordinance regarding dismantled, non-operating, wrecked, or junked, or discarded vehicle or vehicle with an expired license tag to remain on such property. If you are in violation, please take care of your vehicle to avoid further action.

96.043 DISPOSITION OF WRECKED OR DISCARDED VEHICLES (A) No person in charge or control of any property within the city, whether as owner, tenant, occupant, lessee or otherwise, shall allow any partially dismantled, non-operating, wrecked, or junked, or discarded vehicle or vehicle with an expired license tag to remain on such property. ( The owner, tenant, occupant, lessee or otherwise of any vehicle as provided in this section shall first be given notice in writing or notice posted on a vehicle to remove such dismantled, non-operating, wrecked, junked or discarded vehicle or unlicensed vehicle from the property. If such owner, tenant, occupant, lessee or otherwise, shall allow such vehicle to remain on said property longer than 72 hours after the expiration or written notice, the Chief of Police or other officer shall causes the vehicle to be impounded as provided.
